6 Months

My Sweet Baby Girl,

You turned 6 months on Saturday and I am still kind of in shock. I'm not sure how we got to this point so quickly. Actually, I do know how - it's called 4 months of crying and unhappiness. You know that saying, "Time flies when you are having fun?" Well I have a new one, "Time is a blur when you have a wrinkly, unhappy, colicky infant." Oh my sweet one, what a joy you are now. You are the most precious thing I have ever laid eyes on. I am pretty sure your brother was equally as precious, but your beautiful face is all I can see right now. You have a smile that lights up the room. Literally. I have never in my life been stopped so many times for people to just look at you. It really does take me twice as long to take JD to MDO, to go to the store, to take you to doctor appointments, to dine at a restaurant, to get into church, to get out of church (especially if we are near the older classes), to do just about anything with you. Everyone has to have a look. You are truly something special. The other Sunday we were sitting in service and you started to get a little loud, so daddy offered to take you out so mommy could stay and listen. When I got out of service, I found you in daddy's arms literally covered in a glitter. I asked what in the world was all over you and he said it was probably from one of the 50 women that came up and held you. Your brother is also head over heels for you. He is constantly trying to make you laugh. He makes you a part of all his make-believe games. Just today you were Daphne from Scooby-Doo. I can't wait to see you follow him all over the place in a few months. Wait, I can wait...not too fast my love.

You are so much fun right now. I do remember this being one of my favorite times with your brother. Thank you for bringing such joy into our lives. You have captured all of our hearts.

A few of my Favorites:

- You blow raspberries, but it's the funniest face I've seen you make thus far. You can pooch your lips out so far and then you just blow with such a look of determination.- Speaking of raspberries - your lips. They are beautiful and red as can be. This you did not inherit from me but your daddy - you can thank him later!
- You watch everyone with such interest, especially your brother and daddy. The minute they walk in the room your eyes are glued to them.

- You love watching basketball. I am hoping this means you will enjoy watching it when you are older, NOT PLAY it. I spent many years cheering for girl's basketball - please don't make me do it all over again in 12 years.
- You LOVE to eat. Goodness, you eat and eat and eat. You will eat 2 entire jars of baby food mixed with cereal at lunch and dinner and then nurse for 15 minutes. Speaking of, you are a great little nurser and I've been blessed to nurse you for 6 months. I plan on doing so until a year.
- When you get excited you spin your little feet. It's hilarious!!! It looks like the lady on "Sit and Be Fit" - you rotate your feet extremely fast anytime you get worked up (usually you are eating).
- You are a great sleeper.
- You always smell so good. Except when you poop. That smells really (REALLY) bad.
- Dressing you up. As EVERYONE on my picture-email knows. You are my baby doll and have the most adorable outfits and bows. We love getting dressed in the morning.
- You! You are my most favorite girlie in the entire world.

Some Ramblin'

Keepin' it short and sweet...

JD is obsessed with our dog Max. And by obsessed, I mean lives to torture the poor thing. And by torture, I mean poke, hang, walk, lay, sit, and all things completely torturous to anything walking on four legs. I do mean obsessed and torture in the best possible way. In this loving torturous way that only a 3 year old can do, he daily walks Max around the house. He gets the pink sash to my Pink! VS robe and ties it around Max's waist. He then proceeds to drag Max around the house or contain him to one area (like when he's watching cartoons) all day long. While doing so he asks us, "Do you like my white tiger mama? He's white!" It's a little reminiscent of Napoleon Dynamite. If he starts telling me that a liger is like his most favorite animal or ending each sentence with "Gosh..." I might start to worry. Today he was walking...errr...dragging Max and said, "This is my pucky dog kitty cat dog." He's a white one." So...we know he's white and he's either a tiger, a pucky dog, or a kitty cat. But he is white.

I was tucking JD in bed this evening and we were saying our prayers. As usual, I do the first half and then he finished by thanking Jesus for whatever his heart desires or blessing everyone under the sun. Tonight he did a little of both..."Thank you Jesus for blessing my Kenzie-Girl. And thank you for..." and he went on to speak some gibberish (did you know that is spelled with a 'g'? I totally thought it was a 'j' - thank you Jesus for spellcheck!) about Max and not making a mess. I asked him if he had anything else to say to Jesus and he said "Yes...Max likes dog food." Ya know...just in case you didn't know that, Jesus. Our dog (or tiger, pucky dog kitty cat) likes dog food. As oppose to tiger food. Or pucky dog kitty cat food. Whatever that may be.

Snakes and Slimy-Slicks!

So my lack of posting is not because I have been having way too much fun to post. No, not at all. I was actually on blogging-probation. I had to ground myself from my computer so that I could get my spring cleaning done. I am done so now I can blog. Goodness, I never realized how exciting my life is.

With all the excitement that's gone in the last week you think I'd have more to blog about. Sadly no.

JD woke up in the middle of the night the other night screaming. He's a very heavy dreamer (just like his mama). He was having a bad dream about snakes. Normally Jimmy handles mid-night JD wakings since I handle Kenzie-wakings. It's that whole Jimmy not being able to nurse issue. That being said, Jimmy had the stomach flu and was banned from the bedroom. I tried to get him to check into a motel because I really didn't want to get sick. But no. So he slept in the guestroom. Anyways, I went in JD's room to check on him and to calm him down. I could tell from his cry that it was more than "I woke up alone." When I got in there he was sitting up staring at the wall and carrying on about the snake. He was pointing at it and carrying on like crazy. I finally convinced him he was dreaming and we laid down. Not 5 minutes later he sprung right back up and started carrying on again, this time the snake was by the window. It sounds funny, but so wasn't. It was heart wrenching because you could hear the fear in his voice. At this point I told him we'd go sleep in my bed because I could tell it was gonna take some time to fall back asleep and really, my bed is so much comfier! So, he got up and started walking out of the room but he would not take his eyes off the window. It was so sad. Poor guy. I can't even think of a time that he was really around a snake. The only snake he really ever sees is "No Feet" from Little Bear. And No Feet is no scary!

JD is also very funny. Yesterday evening he was sitting on the couch talking to me when Max hopped up there. He said, "MAX - get down! Your breath stinks!"

Oh, and does anyone know what "slimy-slicks" are? Apparently that is preschooler talk for something. He always tells us Max has "slimy slicks" and then points to his feet. We haven't quite decoded this...

Well. Have a happy weekend. We are going out on the boat tomorrow and I CAN NOT WAIT! It's suppose to be 83 in Somerville! Tomorrow will be my first time to wakeboard in almost 2 years!! Whoo-hoo...cheers to not being pregnant this summer!!!

A Milestone...

I should totally be catching up on my zzz's, after all that is one of my bad habits. I'll wait until tomorrow to work on it though. Instead, I want to share some very exciting news!! This isn't BRAND NEW news, but I can now announce it with certainty....

JD IS POTTY TRAINED!

I wanted to wait until I could announce this and then say, we've gone 3 weeks now with NO accidents (not even at night) so it's official!!! We are so proud of our big boy. It's still so strange to us that he really is potty trained. We've been on the brink of this for about 6 months but could never get there. Then with our new addition it was hard to really stay on top of him about it. I think we made the right decision in not pushing him though because by waiting a little longer he really had the ability to go longer without peeing. He can have a juice box and then wait an hour or so before needing to potty. Whereas before, it was literally 15 minutes later that he had to be reminded!!! Anyways...this is super exciting and we are so glad to be done with this for a while!!! I wish all of you (especially those mommy's with little boys) best of luck in your future potty-training days!!!

Allow me to share some of my favorite potty-training quotes and stories...

"Mama, I poo-pooed on my fort! It's like a circus up there!

Everyone in my playgroups (both) know that JD is a bit of a nudist. He's been known to streak at playdates and undress in the Chick-Fil-A play area. This is something I have just had to come to terms with. The boy doesn't like clothes and I have accepted that. But, we hit an all-time low at our Playgroup Easter Party. I hosted this one and things were really getting going. The kids were all outside playing and us moms were doing what we do...talk...and eat! I looked out in the backyard to catch JD at the top of his fort, pants off, and attempting to pee down the slide! AWESOME! I caught him before he actually peed, but not before I was utterly embarrassed!!

Because of my awful staph infection, I was on 2 different heavy antibiotics for 10 days. One of these antibiotics turned my sweat, tears, and urine orange. And since we are obsessed with all things potty-related, JD was also very intrigued by my orange pee. Every potty conversation went something like this...

JD: "Mama, you got oraaange pee pee?"
Me: "Yes. Mommy's on medicine and it makes my pee pee orange."
JD: "Oh. I have yellow pee pee. And brown poo poo. But sometimes I have green poo poo if I eat wa-ca-mole (guacamole)."
Me: "Your right. My pee pee will be yellow again soon."
JD: "Oh. Mama, what's a pirates favorite color?"
Me: "I don't know. What?"
JD: "Orrr-aaannngggeee!"

We were in the car the other day when JD started hollering "NO!" and "Stop it!" at something. I asked him what was wrong...
Me: "What's the matter?"
JD: "My weinker is squished?"
Me: "Huh? Your weinker is squished?"
JD: "Yes, the seat is smashin' my weinker!"
Me: "Ok, we'll be there in a minute and you can unbuckle!"
JD: "Good. And my weinker won't be squished no more!!"

A few pictures of my BIG boy...he sure is growing up fast...

Sometimes we have a hard time remembering which way our underwears go...

Pure handsomeness before spring pictures at school...

...and totally trying to watch Handy Manny!

A daddy's boy for sure...

...Who lives to get dirty...

...and eat pa-sghe-tii!

And is VERY serious about his Longhorns!! Hook 'Em!!!

A Little of This, A Little of That...

We've got a new layout working, whoo-hoo! Thank you Jennifer with Apple Blossom Prints (do check out the gallery page - yes, that is our little angel baby)!!! I am so excited about it and maybe it will inspire more blogging, though I have done better. At the expense of my husband of course who is presently huffing and puffing down stairs because he wants to watch something we've DVR'd and he's waiting on me.

JD is still fighting this nasty cold/sinusitis/evilness. After running a fever for several days with no other symptoms, he finally started acting sick last weekend. I took him in on Monday to find out he had a terrible sinus infection. He started antibiotics that night and has been feeling much better all week. Until today. He took an extremely long nap this afternoon which is very rare (he only naps at MDO) and when he woke I went over to love on him and he was on fire. He's been pretty blah ever since! Please pray that we can kick this for good!!!

Yesterday was my wonderful mommy's birthday! We surprised her with dinner at a wonderful new sushi restaurant off of Louetta/249 - Koi's. It was wonderful! Mom and Pa Tim eat there several times a week and previously ate at Kobe (the other one this family owns) so they are very good friends with Karen, the owner. She had a private little table set up in a side room with decorations and balloons. It was so cute. And DELICIOUS!!! We got mom a adorable bench with a big star on it (purchased from the wonderful HEB we shop at) and JD gave her flowers. She lucked out, she almost ended up with safety goggles...

Me: "JD, tomorrow is KK's birthday. What present do you want to get her?"
JD: "Uh...Umm...Uh...safety goggles!"
Me: "Safety goggles? Really?"
JD: "Yes, because KK was hammerin' that nail in the bathroom and didn't have no safety goggles!"
Me: Laughing "Ok, safety goggles!"
JD: "It's okay mama, she can use mine!"

He's a hoot!!!

One last thing. This morning Jimmy and I shared a first in our 3-1/2 years of marriage (8 years of being together this May! WOW) this morning. We went garage sale-ing! YES, it was our first time and most definitely not our last!! It was our community wide garage sale this morning and we were out the door at 6:50! We grabbed kolaches and coffee and then hit the sales! It was a blast! BIG THANKS to Aunt Shannie for spending the night last night and getting up with the kiddos this morning! So, we made out for it being our first time! I have to share our great finds....

a spreader for the yard (for weed-n-feed, fertilizer, etc)
a floormate (yea, my hardwood loves me now)
a doggy gate (to keep the dogs downstairs at night)
a playmat for Kenzie (with a ton of super cool things hanging from it)
a ESPN t-ball stand (the one we had was WORN OUT and JD LOVES IT)
a lawn mower (I will take a picture when Jimmy actually mows the lawn)
2 "gamer" chairs for the media room
a BRAND NEW, never opened in the box train table w/ drawers and train set w/ all the pieces!!

for a grand total of......drum roll please......$140!!!

Tomorrow we were suppose to go to the lake, but Jimmy didn't make it to the shop today before they closed to pick the boat up. =( I am a little bummed because it's suppose to be gorgeous. If JD wakes up feeling well we are thinking of making a trip to Galveston and either going to the beach or to Schlitterbaum. We shall see....

I better go check on my husband and watch something before he really starts to pout!

Loving HIM

I just recently started a new morning devotional. It's The Woman's Devotional Guide to the Bible by Jean E. Syswerda and I love it. I hate to admit it, but I know very little about the Bible. I was in church just about every Sunday my entire adolescent life. I attended GA's, camps, and Wednesday night worship. I even tagged along to my mom's Bible studies and aerobics classes. I should know more. Of course I know many of the stories but that's all they have been to me, stories. Until now. I feel like a little kid, all wide-eyed as I turn the pages. The way the devotional is set up, you read several different verses/chapters every Monday, and then spend the rest of the week really digging into them. I have the hardest time not reading ahead. I can't put it down once I get going!! I am loving every delicious word of it.

That being said. I am in such a place right now with the Lord. He's been so absent from my life the past few years. Well, He's been there but I've not wanted to let Him in. I've been too busy and too wrapped up in what I had going on. After growing up with Him being a daily part of my life for 18 years, it only took a short while without Him for me to feel EMPTY. Spiritually empty. It's not easy diving back into a relationship with Him. I am an all or nothing kind of person. I have a really hard time doing things half way. So, I feel very convicted when I am only half-way trying to restore this relationship. But it's also very hard with 2 kids. NOT AN EXCUSE AT ALL. But quiet times aren't really so quiet. There's Mickey Mouse in the backgroud, someone always asking for juice or "Momma, what are you doing?", and a sweet baby girl that really does enjoy her mama's undivided attention. That being said, the above devotional is really helping me get back to a daily (perferably morning because it really does start my day so great) one-on-one time with the Lord.

I am so desperate to hear Him and to be used. That was my prayer this morning. USE ME LORD. Use every single inch of me to further glorify your name. I don't want to miss my calling so open my ears, my eyes, my soul so that I am so ready to do what it is you put me on this earth to do. I want to raise 2 kids that truly think you are "IT" and that live to love and worship you. Lord, please use this girl so that I may be a woman after your own heart. I so love you Jesus and I am so glad that after only a little while you said "ENOUGH" and yanked me right back to you.

I am loving this song by Rush of Fools...

I've been here before..and here I am again
Standing at the door, praying you'll let me back in

To label me a prodigal would be only scratching the surface of who I've been known to be

Turn me around, pick me up
Undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place of forgiveness and grace
I need You, need Your help
I can't do this myself
You're the only One who can undo what I've become

I focused on the score but I could never win
Trying to ignore a life of hiding my sin

To label me a hypocrite would beonly scratching the surface of who I've been know to be

Make every step lead me back to the sovereign way that You...

Turn me around, pick me up
Undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place of forgiveness and grace
I need You, need Your help
I can't do this myself
You're the only One who can undo what I've become

7 Not-So-Interesting Things

SO I was tagged earlier this evening by the beautiful Tammie over at Totally Captivated and because I despise doing the dishes after eating spaghetti I am answering the tag and passing the tag on...

Here are the rules:
Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

My 7 Things...

1. I always follow the same shower routine - apply shampoo, brush my teeth, rinse shampoo, apply conditioner, wash my face, wash my body, rinse my body and conditioner!

2. If I am in the car in the morning you will probably catch me listening to 1560am - sports radio with John and Lance (formally on 610)

3. My great uncle x 8 (Jubal Anderson Early) was a general in the civil war.

4. I do not check my VM until I have 4+.

5. I am really (REALLY) bad about remembering peoples names. Actually I never really learn them. I always forget to actually "listen" the person's name.

6. I am really particular about my laundry and because of this I do twice as many loads. I seperate everything based on color and then type (under clothes vs. outer clothes).

7. I hate going to sleep in an unmade bed. If I didn't get it made earlier in the day then I will make it before sleeping in it!
